We are looking for a Business Controller who wants a central role in the commercialization of R&D and production, acting as a key finance business partner, driving performance, cost control, and investment decisions across both development and manufacturing environments.
You take ownership of the financial backbone of R&D and production. From budgeting and cost analysis to investment decisions and performance follow-up, you ensure that decisions are grounded in data and aligned with financial targets.
Here you will get the opportunity to shape, not only your own role, but also finance’s impact on the R&D and Production organization, in terms of stakeholder management, business processes, reporting, structure etc.
This position is located at Öhlins Group head office in Upplands Väsby and reports directly to Group CFO.
Key Responsibilities
R&D Controlling
Drive budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning for R&D activities. Monitor project costs, resource allocation, and development spend, ensuring transparency and control. Track project progress versus budget and highlight risks and deviations, while supporting prioritization of investments and ensuring correct capitalization of development costs.
Production Controlling
Support production budgeting, forecasting, and cost follow-up. Analyse manufacturing performance across material, labor, and overhead, ensuring clear understanding of cost drivers and deviations. Partner with operations to identify efficiency improvements, cost-saving initiatives, and strengthen overall cost control.
Performance Analysis & Reporting
Provide structured and reliable reporting on R&D and production performance. Deliver variance analysis versus budget, forecast, and prior periods, and develop relevant KPIs and dashboards to support operational decision-making. Ensure clear communication of financial performance and risks to management.
Processes and Development
Continuously improve controlling processes within R&D and production. Drive standardization, data accuracy, and automation, and support development of ERP systems and reporting tools related to cost controlling and project tracking.
Your Profile
You have a strong financial skill set and a sharp analytical mindset, with hands-on experience in business controlling, ideally from a manufacturing or R&D-driven environment. You are also used to working with organizational development—improving structures, processes, and ways of working to strengthen performance and enable change.
You approach your work in a structured and pragmatic way, with the ability to navigate complexity, prioritize effectively, and deliver with high quality across multiple areas simultaneously. You are comfortable operating independently, taking full ownership of your scope while actively collaborating with stakeholders across the organization.
You are confident in challenging the business and contributing with clear, data-driven perspectives. With a proactive mindset, you drive initiatives forward and ensure that insights are translated into tangible actions and results. Your strong communication skills and business understanding allow you to bridge finance and operations effectively. Experience working with ERP systems, cost structures, and reporting tools is a plus.
